Will make Telengana separate state if comes to center: BJP president Rajnath Singh.
In the wake of India’s ruling party Congress taking the final decision soon to grant Talangana a separate statehood separated from Andhra Pradesh, president of opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserted on Sunday his government will definitely do it if comes to power at the Centre.
Rajnath Singh said to the media in national capital New Delhi on Sunday, “Telangana state should be made. It is BJP’s firm conviction that the day we come to power at the Centre, we will create Telangana state.”
Earlier on July 26 the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had a meeting with the lawmakers discussing about the creation of Telengana state.
Telengana region lawmakers supported it, but others from the non-Telengana regions opposed creation of separate Telengana state.
The demand for Telengana state has taken hundreds of lives between 1969 and 1972 in several protests and political power play.
The Congress-led UPA government failed its first attempt in 2009 in the creation of Telengana state.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh chief minister has said to the center the creation of Telengana state will be a suicidal step.
If created, Hyderabad will be the capital of Telengana as geographically it falls in its region. Presently Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
