The Duke of Edinburgh Prince Phillip recovering satisfactorily after abdominal surgery.

After a successful exploratory abdominal surgery, the Duke of Edinburgh has spent a second continuous night in the hospital where he is recovering from the surgery and the progress is satisfactory according to the doctors.

Prince Philip, who will be celebrating 92 years of life on Monday, would be staying in the hospital for about another couple of weeks. The Queen would be spending the weekend at the Windsor Castle.

Buckingham Palace stated on Thursday that this was not any medical emergency and the admission into the hospital had been pre-arranged. A short statement was also issued just after the surgery stating, “The duke has had an exploratory operation following abdominal investigations. At this early stage he is progressing satisfactorily. Further updates will continue to be issued when appropriate.”

BBC’s rebuilt Broadcasting House in Central London was officially opened by the Queen on Friday, and The Duke of Edinburgh was also scheduled to accompany her but unfortunately he had to be operated upon on that day.

Director General Tony Hall and BBC Trust chairman Lord Patten escorted the Queen on her visit and wished a speedy recovery to the Duke of Edinburgh.

This is the fourth time in the last two years that Prince Philip has to be hospitalized. It has been 65 years that the Duke has been married to the Queen.

In another statement Prime Minister David Cameron also wished a fast recovery to Prince Philip and said that the whole country would be thinking about him.
